Help
How Cartwright works, written for the person doing the job rather than for a developer. These are the same articles that are inside the app.
Quick start
A ten-minute tour: how an order becomes a daily log, how the log reaches your automation system, and how the as-run comes back so you bill what aired.
Getting a spot on air
The whole chain in order: the advertiser, the order, the creative, staging it, building and approving the log, delivering it, and checking it aired.
Live reads
A live read is sold and scheduled like any other spot. How the copy reaches the presenter, how they mark it read, and why nothing goes to automation.
When a log will not import
Work through it in order: ask the automation what it did, check the file reached the folder, and check the audio exists. The first two answer most of it.
From stranger to advertiser
The path from a stranger to somebody buying airtime: listener to lead, lead to company, deal to won, company to advertiser — and why listeners stay separate.
Listeners and the Studio Inbox
Everything a listener sends in, in one Inbox: email, your website forms, and calls logged by hand. How to reply, and when a listener becomes a lead.
Breaks, and why times move
An automation clock is a sequence, not a timetable, so breaks drift. The minute against a break names which break a spot belongs in — a label, not a time.
Spots you owe back
A spot sold that did not run is a debt. How Cartwright opens a makegood the next morning, how much runway the flight has to repay it, and your options.
Starting the server, and backups
Cartwright is a desktop app plus a server holding the database. What to do when the server is unreachable, how backups work, and which build you run.
Automation systems
How Cartwright writes a log StationPlaylist will import, what streaming providers need, and what to do when your station runs something else.
Opening Cartwright on another computer
The page opens in Safari but not Chrome, on the same address. Two Chrome settings cause it, both take a minute, and neither is a fault with the station's server.

What we can help with: exactly what Cartwright did, and what your automation system said back — we read its import log and put it in plain words.
What we cannot do is set up another company's software for you. If the fix is a setting inside your automation system, that is a question for its support desk, and we will tell you so rather than guess.
