Rebuilding a day in Creator
Sometimes Cartwright says something like "Rebuild Monday, Nov 9 in Creator." This page explains what that means and how to do it.
Why it happens
StationPlaylist Creator is the program that builds each day's playlist, the list of songs and breaks that Studio plays. Creator reads the traffic log (the list of spots Cartwright sends) once, while it builds the day, and puts the spots into the breaks.
So if Cartwright sends a new log for a day after Creator has built it, Creator does not see the change. This happens when an order changes, a makegood is scheduled, or a spot is moved. The day Creator built still has the old spots. Rebuilding the day makes Creator read the new log.
Cartwright checks Creator's playlists to see which days were built before their log last changed. The reminder goes away by itself within the hour once the day is rebuilt. You can also ask Sidekick which days still need it.
The steps
Do this on the computer where Creator runs.
1. Open StationPlaylist Creator. 2. Click Create on the toolbar (or File → Create Playlist). The Playlist Creation window opens. 3. Set Start Day to the day Cartwright named. Leave the Hour at 00:00, and set the number of days to 1. 4. A box called Store above changes appears. Untick it. If it stays ticked, Creator moves its usual start date back to this day, and its normal schedule of building days ahead goes off track. 5. Click Start and wait. It can take a few minutes. 6. Optional: click View/Edit Playlist and look at a break or two to check the spots are there. 7. Click Save in Creator's main window. (Or tick Save after creation before you press Start.) Saving records which songs played when, so the next days keep their spacing rules.
Repeat for each day Cartwright named, one day at a time.
When you are done
Open the day on Cartwright's Daily Log and press Verify import. Done looks like this: the spots offered and the spots added match, and the rebuild reminder clears within the hour.
If the numbers do not match, see When a log will not import.
Good to know
- Only rebuild days that have not aired yet. Rebuilding today can change hours that may already be loaded in Studio.
- Creator may warn that a song breaks a separation rule (the same song or artist too close together). That happens because the day is being built a second time. Choosing Ignore is fine for a one-off rebuild.
Still stuck?
Email hello@cartwright.fm. One person reads it, and you will get a real answer rather than a ticket number.
What we can help with: exactly what Cartwright did, and what your automation system said back — we read its import log and put it in plain words.
What we cannot do is set up another company's software for you. If the fix is a setting inside your automation system, that is a question for its support desk, and we will tell you so rather than guess.
